Internet through power lines?

Business Recorder is running a story about a private company in Islamabad that wants to introduce broadband over powerlines. According to the article, DZD Communication’s (no link available) CEO said that operations could start as early as the next three months and that connections would initially be given to multi-story buildings, though negotiations with WAPDA have yet to be wrapped up.

DoubtfulCould be just a simple puff in the smoke, I am not techie but Broadband through powerlines needs a steady powersupply without the peaks and drops in voltage we see here, My gutt feeling is the company is just feeling around, too much beurcracy in WAPDA to be a simple wam-bam-done deal. Dont label me as a pessimeist, I am all for it if it actually materializes.

Wapda is asking the govt.Wapda is asking the govt. for a 26 billion rs. handout, up from 20 billion last year. It’s not exactly an organization any sane person would want to do business with. Then there is the small matter of widely fluctuating voltages, and broken down transformers.
